Dr Kumar graduated from University of Singapore in 1977 and underwent
his post-graduate specialist training in Obstetrics & Gynecology at
the University Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology in Kandng Kerbau
Hospital (KKH), Singapore. He then continued his career as Lecturer,
Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor in the University Department
of Obstetrics & Gynecology in the University Department of Obstetrics
& Gynecology, Kandang Kerbau Hospital and the National University
Hospital (NUH) from 1984 – 2003. He undertook his PhD studies at
Monash University under an Overseas Postgraduate Research Scholarship
by the NHMRC, Australia, in 1987.
Dr Kumar has been involved in the field of sub fertility and A.R.T.
since 1991 and was the Clinical Coordinator of the Sub fertility
Medicine and A.R.T. Programmes, and Head of the Division of
Reproductive Medicine at National University Hospital (NUH) from
1997 – 2001. He was also a member of the successful NUH team that
produced the world’s first babies born after transfer of zona-softened
blastocysts in both stimulated and natura; A.R.T. cycles. He has also
been actively involved in the teaching and training of doctors in the
clinical management of sub fertility, both locally and regionally.
